Ms. Marlena Duncan

Marlena Duncan is a dance educator and choreographer proficient in Modern Dance, Jazz, Tap, Ballet, and Hip-Hop. She is an award recipient of the Thad Cochran Distinguished Arts Educator in Dance award in 2014, Bates Dance Festival Educator Fellowship in 2013, and the American Dance Festival young artist scholarship in 2002 & 2003. Most recently, Marlena attended the professional dance educator track at the 2019 Bates Dance Festival. She is a licensed dance educator and physical education instructor through the MS Department of Education. Marlena is certified in Pilates Mat through Steele Pilates and holds a Pilates Reformer certificate from the Pilates Place of MS. She has instructed dance for the Janice Wyatt MSAI Bologna Performing Arts Center summer camp at Delta State, Belhaven University dance program, MS College musical theater program, The Mississippi Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance conference, and many private studios. Her musical choreography credits include Newsies, Mary Poppins, and Fiddler on the Roof for 猛料原创 Academy, Once Upon A Mattress for Northwest Rankin High School, South Pacific and Guys and Dolls for MS College, Seussical Jr., High School Musical Jr., The Little Mermaid Jr., and Hairspray The Musical, for New Stage Theatre, and All You Need is Love, for Belhaven University. Marlena is currently on faculty as chair of the dance department at Wells Academics and Performing Arts Complex in 猛料原创, MS. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2003 and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Belhaven University in 2016.
