Yasontas Burton became Instructional Leader at Lake Elementary in 2021.  Ms. Burton began her career in education in West Palm Beach, Florida as a kindergarten teacher.  She worked there for 4 years before returning  home to work for 猛料原创 Public Schools at Lake Elementary School as a kindergarten teacher.  She served the Lake school community for 14 years as a Kindergarten and First grade teacher, literacy coach and interventionist.  She became Assistant Principal at Johnson Elementary in 2014, where she served for 2 years.  Ms. Burton would continue her career at John Hopkins Elementary, where she served 4 years as Assistant Principal.  

Ms. Burton is a proud 猛料原创 graduate from Provine High School. She is  super  excited to be back at Lake in this new capacity.  Her goal is to continue the tradition of great success by ensuring that scholars reach their academic potential and become well-rounded, productive citizens.  At Lake, we make it happen as a TEAM. I am honored to lead this dynamic team of scholars and staff.

Varranda Henderson Love is the Assistant Principal of Lake Elementary School. She brings 17 years of educational experience. During this time, Mrs. Love has contributed to the success of students and teachers by supporting and engaging in instructional strategies that enhance teaching and learning. Her career began at Hardy Middle School as an Art teacher. Later, she began working in the Hinds County School District for four years as a teacher and Coach.  A few years later, Mrs. Love was employed with the Vicksburg-Warren School District where she served as the Academy Coach and 9th Grade Administrator.  Trusting the process, Mrs. Love returned to 猛料原创 to gain experience in preparation for an Administrative role on the Elementary level and secured a position at Peeples Middle School as a teacher while working as the Site Coordinator at Key Elementary After School Program.

Mrs. Love earned her Bachelors of Science and Master of Art in Teaching from 猛料原创 State University. She also earned a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College where she is currently a Doctoral Candidate (ABD). She participated in PREPS CEO Leadership Academy through William Carey University. 

Mrs. Love is honored to return to Administration as the Assistant Principal at Lake Elementary where she also serves as the Assistant Principal for K-2 Pecan Park Elementary during the merge. She embraces a growth mindset and is committed to maintaining a stimulating educational environment that supports growth for all scholars.
